SIMPLE PAST TENSE

hari ini kita akan belajar mengenai SIMPLE PAST TENSE. Jadi, buat kamu yang masih bingung atau ada tugas tentang SPT bisa buka blog ini dan lihat tulisan yg gw post di bawah ini. But honestly, the material below was my task. So I hope it's useful to you guys. :) 

A.    The definition of Simple Past Tense

The simple past tense is sometimes called the preterit, is used to talk about a completed action in a time before now.

B.     The functions of Simple Past Tense

v  We use the simple past tense to talk about actions and state which we see as completed in the past. We can use it to talk about a specific point in the time.

v  We can use simple past tense in used to talk about a period of time.

C.     The pattern of Simple Past Tense

a)      Verbal sentence

(+) S + V2 + Object/ Adverb

(-)  S + DID + NOT + V2 + Object/ Adverb

(?)  DID + S + V2 + Object/ Adverb

Example:

1.      (+) Ima did her homework last night.

(-)  Ima did not her homework last night.

(?)  Did Ima do her homework last night ?

2.      (+) We played badminton with them two days ago.

(-)  We did not play badminton with them two days ago.

(?)  Did we play badminton with them two days ago ?

b)      Nominal sentence

(+) S + WAS/WERE + NON VERB

(-)  S + WAS/ WERE + NOT+ NON VERB

(?)  WAS/WERE + S + NON VERB

Example:

1)   (+) Timo was in the BANK yesterday.

(-)  Timo was not in the BANK yesterday.

(?)  Was Timo in the BANK yesterday ?

2)   (+) They were Miss Adriani’s students last year.

(-)  They were not Miss Adriani’s students last year.

(?)  Were they Miss Adriani’s students last year ?
