Blending
is the word formation process in which parts or two or more words combine to
create a new word whose meaning is often a combination of the original words.

Breakfast + lunch = brunch
Chuckle + snort = chortle
Guess + estimate = guesstimate
Motor + hotel = motel
Smoke + fork = smog
Telephone + marathon = telethon

D. Abbreviations
Abbreviation
is a short form of a word by leaving out letter or using only the first letter
of each word and pronounced letter by letter.

Acronym
is a word formed from the first letter of the words that make up the name of
something.
